SUMMARY

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of the freight forwarding operations, and all related functions and personnel for the A-Link Los Angeles branch, reporting to the A-Link senior management.

The Operations Supervisor will also oversee daily coordination and transportation of all inbound and outbound shipments.   This is primarily an Air Export operation but does include ocean and import.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing all personnel, productivity, profitability and activities within the department.  This role requires creative thought and a high sense of urgency in a fast paced and demanding customer driven environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Customer service, Client management to increase service satisfaction level
    • Drives performance and profit improvement of Operation
    • Prioritizes and delegates work tasks among the team members.
    • Ensure that all personnel are providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
    • Ensures that all customer enquiries are responded promptly and professionally.
  • Manage performance and activity for Freight Forwarding team members
    • Lead, coach, enforce, empower and direct reports to perform and achieve in line with Company values and strategy, and department goals adhering to ALink Company policies.
    • Recommend and implement strategies to continually improve department performance.
    • Address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies.
    • Communicate pending work and/or unresolved problems to the following personnel.
    • Prioritizes and delegates work tasks among the team members.
    • Ensure that all issues related to service failures are followed up on and the corrective action implemented.
  • Manage, monitor, and support Freight Forwarding Operations  
    • Oversee the transportation of freight and ensure complete customer satisfaction by facilitating timely and accurate communication.
    • Manage day-to-day functions of the operations department, interacting with staff, other intercompany department managers, senior management team, and warehouse staff
    • Provide guidance and direction to customer service and operations agents on operational decisions based on immediate requirements and urgent deliveries.
    • Accurately manage and maintain departmental administrative tasks such as accounting, reporting and compliance in accordance with internal policies and state and federal regulations.
    • Daily reporting with Cargowise system

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. MADARIN / SPANISH a plus
  • General understanding of the Supply Chain Management and the logistics industry is required.
  • Understanding of the full range of Freight Forwarding services, including movement scheduling, monitor and control services, cost optimization, and various industry specific requirements is required.
  • Have ability to work in a fast face environment.
  • Self-motivated strong sense of urgency and attention to detail. Ability to work in a  fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs.
