SUMMARY
The Director Business Development, Air Freight is responsible for leading sales efforts for international freight products and services including air and ocean focused on import and export between Asia and the USA.
The Director Business Development, Air Freight will also manage all stages of the sales funnel for prospective clients and review current customer accounts for possibilities of increasing current business. This role requires creative thought and a high sense of urgency in a fast paced and demanding customer driven environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Develop new business opportunities for international freight products and services including air and ocean through cold calls, campaigns, networking, partners and previous book of business
- Identify opportunities in the marketplace using external and internal resources and previous experience
- Create and drive your own sales plan strategy that successfully meets sales goals and initiatives
- Manage freight RFP’s and RFQ’s to ensure accurate, complete and detailed information that can be presented to corporate
- Work with marketing to develop campaigns and materials as needed for sales efforts
- Negotiate freight contracts as directed by Management team
- Assist in the onboarding on new freight customers and transition to operations control
- Prepare Sales Reports Monthly
- Meet quarterly and yearly quotas to grow and develop a profitable book of business
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Additionally, Mandarin and/or Spanish preferred
- Good understanding of the international air freight, import and export freight forwarding industry and the general logistics industry is required.
- Experience using CRM systems preferred
- Experience of cold calling and persistent sales follow up
- Intermediate MS Excel, Power Point, Word and database management are required
- Must be willing to travel as needed to close business
